Bond & Override Information

Community Override Presentation

A Letter from our Superintendent

To the SCV35 Community,

On behalf of Santa Cruz County Unified School District No. 35 Governing Board, students, families, and staff members, I want to express our gratitude to the community for their support of the bond. The outcome of last year's election is truly a reflection of the work of a tremendous team which includes parents, educators, and community members.

Recently, the SCV35 Governing Board again called for a November 3rd, 2020 override election.  This action calls for an increase of 9%, up 2% from the current override.

A committee of community members and stakeholders met to evaluate the need for the increase.  The committee agreed upon the increase and to continue the same areas of current support in addition to supporting maintenance costs as a result of bond project expansions.

The override will continue to fund the following programs;

  • Full-day kindergarten & Early Education Programs

  • Attracting and retaining highly qualified teachers

  • Retaining critical staff and support for the following student programs:

    • Band

    • Library/Media Centers

    • Counseling

    • K-5 Electives including Art

    • Career and Technical Education

    • Information Technology

    • Online education

    • Athletics

New Projects Funded

  • Modified calendar

  • Maintenance costs of bond project expansions, such as tennis courts, stadium lighting and pool.

We will continue to add information and photos of our progress on our Bond Construction page.  Please check back often for updates.  Feel free to share a copy of our 2020 Override Fact Sheet.
